South Africa has many biomes, which are broad vegetation zones that are
Limpopo

created by the country's climate
and topography, along with their associated
animal life. Three of the biomes in
South Africa are
Savanna
The largest biome in southem Africa with an average annual rainfall of 600mm.
Rainfall typically
occurs during the summer months, with a distinct dry season
in the winter. This biome
covering over one-third of the country's area. It's well
developed in the Kalahari and Lowveld regions. Some scientists call the
savanna vegetation bushveld"
Forest
Found in frost-free areas with an average of 525mm of annual rainfall in the
winter, and an average of 725mm in the summer. Forests can be found from
sea level to over 2100 m above sea level, it is a small and fragmented, biome
in South Africa. This biome is the most protected with over 40% of the biome in
protected areas
Fynbos
This biome has an average annual rainfall of 950mm. The fynbos is
characterized by its Mediterranean climate, with wet winters and dry summers.
It has over 7,000 plant species, with more than 80% of them being endemic to
the Cape Floral Kingdom
