Miguel suffered a serious injury while playing football for Nottingham High.Following the medical release from Miguel's physician, Miguel returned to school. Miguel reported to his first-period class. His teacher told him that Ms. Gusman had requested a meeting with him and that he should report directly to her office. When Miguel arrived, Ms. Gusman informed him that his schedule had been changed and that he would no longer be enrolled in Biology because that classroom did not have wheelchair access. Instead, Miguel would be enrolled in another science class that would satisfy his science requirement for graduation but not necessarily qualify as a college preparatory class. Miguel’s mother is upset that neither she nor Miguel’s father was informed of the change that will penalize Miguel and make university acceptance difficult if not impossible.
