You just said that their area doubles every day. That means that yesterday, their area was 1/2 of what it is today. For example, if they cover 12 today, then they covered 6 yesterday. . . . So, now, if they cover 96 today ... the 20th day... then they covered 48 yesterday ... the 19th day.
