Lynching is the the execution or murder of an individual by a mob of people. Lynching often occurs at the hands of riotous groups of people who have taken the law or power to kill into their own hands. Often times lynchings have occurred of minority group members who are oppressed by the majority i.e. the lynching of African Americans in the southern United States.
