OUT OF 32 STUDENTS IN A CLASS, 5 SAID THEY RIDE THEIR BIKES TO SCHOOL.  BASED ON THESE RESULTS, HOW MANY OF THE 800 STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL RIDE THEIR BIKES TO SCHOOL?

Answer :

Let, the total number of students in school that ride the bike to school be "x"
Now,
Using ratio and proportion, we get,
[tex] \frac{5}{32} = \frac{x}{800} [/tex]

[tex] \frac{5}{32}*800 = \frac{x}{800} *800[/tex]

[tex] \frac{4000}{32} =x[/tex]

[tex]125 =x[/tex]

[tex]x=125[/tex]

So, out of 800 students, 125 ride their bike to school.
