The battle of Stalingrad was fought between the Soviet Union and Germany with its allies, in which Germany has to face the defeat. As a consequence of which Germany withdrew its military forces from the western front to compensate their losses. Numbers of operation were conducted against Germany from 19 November till 2nd February, which involves some about 15 armies operating in several battlefields.

Thus it can also be marked as the reason defeat of Axis forces in the World War II. On September 2nd 1945 Second World War ended with unconditional surrender of Axis forces.
