On or near the surface of the Earth, under the influence of gravity
and no other forces, a body falls 32 feet in 1.41 seconds.
The speed upon impact inside the fireplace is 45.3 feet per second,
13.9 meters per second, 49.9 kilometers per hour, or 30.9 mph.
The weight of the body makes no difference. If air resistance and other
sources of friction can be ignored, then a falling feather behaves the same
as a falling truck.
