After the French and Indian War (England v. French and Indian forces combined) the King of England at the time (Charles III) created the Proclamation Line of 1763, which told the Colonies that nobody was to pass it and explore or settle any land past that line (the Western border of the land mass of all 13 Colonies) and that those who passed it were breaking law under the Crown. Regardless people still passed it for the reasons of land, gold and gems and hunting of animals (and many others) however many that did were killed my the Native American (Indians) that lived there because they viewed the Colonists as the enemy due to their affiliations with England.
