So the settlers started stealing food from the Indians who only gathered and hunted what was required for survive. This situation increased tension between the Powhatan natives and the settlers. As a result, the Powhatan's natives captured Jamestown and some colonists. The English colonists had to accept Powhatan as king during a ceremony coronation, although he was a subordinate king to their own English king.
