John Locke is also the supporter of the rule by the majority as a natural and necessary law, in the interests of the protection of human rights. Voltaire also advocated the freedom of people and believed in each individual's own choice when politics, religion and culture were in question.
Oliver Cromwell, who closed the Parliament and proved himself to be a dictator, and King James, who could raise money through taxes without asking Parliament, is not nearly an Enlightenment ideas.
