Harriet has 3/4 tank of gas left in her car. if she needs 1/4 tank to go to her friends house and another 1/4 tank to get back home,does she have enough gas? explain your answer

Ok so if you add the two 1/4's you will find how much gas she needs total to complete the trip. So do 1/4 + 1/4 and get 1/2. Next you can see that 3/4 is larger than 1/2, so she has enough gas.

So add 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4 now you need to subtract so take 3/4 - 2/4 = 1/4 still left in gas tank hope this helps
