I believe that if you were trying to find the ratio that adds up to square ratio then you put it in terms of x
3x+5x=1600
8x=1600 and then you divide by 8
x=200

then you plug it in
3x=3(200)=600
5x=5(200)=1000
600:1000 is your final answer in sq yards
