Tensions grew between the two main colonies – Loyalists and Patriots – during the years leading up to the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge and the American Revolution. The colonials who were loyal to the King of England were loyalist. You could not agree with Crown policies and rules but you understood that you were obliged to abide by the laws and be faithful to the monarchy, which controls your everyday living. The patriots were colonials, particularly as the way in which these rules were enacted and enforced were increasingly wary of British rules and policies
