The Whiskey Rebellion. Farmers from the south were upset that they had to pay special tax on whiskey. They didn't have the money to pay for the tax. Until July, 1794, when the federal officers went up to collect the taxes. A large mob of people attacked tax collecters with pitchforks, guns, swords, ect and even burned down some buildings.
This alarmed the goverment leaders. President Washington and his group decided to handle the situation. The mob died down from the help of Washington's army.
