The Progressive Movement emerged in the 1890s and continued until the 1920s as a response to deal with all the political, socials and economic injustices that came with the U.S. Industrial Revolution.

Progressive reformers consistently worked to make social and political reforms that improved society. They achieved to do this by exposing corruption in both government and big business, regulating private industry, protecting workers and consumer's rights and wellness (the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 is an example of that), protecting people's right of press and protest, dealing with alcohol issues (They supported the 18th Amendment that banned the sale and drinking of alcohol), among others.
