It is often claimed that the major American wars of the last 150 years have resulted in the most important social and political gains of minorities and women. Evaluate this statement with regard to the experiences of minorities and women during World War II.



Answer :

This is for the most part true, especially with regard to the Civil War (which was fought over the issue of slavery) and the Second World War (in which many African Americans fought and during which time many women participated heavily in the work force).
