Answer :
First , ocean currents are actually big convection currents moving heat around. Second, ocean currents moves food and nutrients from deeper water in a process called upwelling.
Answer:
The ocean currents affect life on earth in two possible ways-
- Firstly, the ocean water current carries the warm current from the equatorial region towards the poles and brings back cold water from the pole to the equator. During this journey of heat transportation, it causes various types of weather and climatic conditions, that affect the lives existing on earth. In simple words, the ocean currents are responsible for controlling the global climatic condition.
- The upper-ocean water is relatively warmer and denser in nature compared to the deeper and denser colder water. This colder deep water in some areas under certain conditions rises up to the surface replacing the warm current. This process is known as the upwelling of the ocean current. This results in carrying the essential mineral nutrients to the upper layer, which are very useful for the marine organism. It thus supplies a good amount of valuable minerals to these organisms, thereby enhancing the biological productivity in the ocean.
