The Mayan Civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization by the Maya peoples, who inhabited parts of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and parts of Honduras and El Salvador as well. It is said that the Mayan existence started in 2000 BC and ended in 1697, with its contact years being 1511 until 1697. The Mayan civilization is known for its art, architecture, mathematical and astronomical symbols. There are still descendants of the Mayas to this day, but the Maya culture (although there are some remnants) has largely disappeared.
