Tourism is (almost) always a positive development for a country, as it is connected to the influx of money into a country, which is always a good thing. The Tourists that come to Cambodia bring in the money that the country would otherwise not have, and which it can then use for development in other sectors.
Tourism is one of the most inportant sectors of Cambodia's economy. A stronger economy is also favourable to the government, as it strengthens the country, and also reduces possibilities for tensions, as when people will not be as poor, and will be less likely to oppose the government, which they would if they were more unhappy about their financial state (this is not always true, but it can be argued to have an influence).
