The two hormones work to maintain the blood glucose level. Glucagon is being secreted while Kai feels hungry. Glucagon converts the glycogen stored in muscle cells to glucose in order to provide energy to the cells in Kai's body. After eating, insulin is secreted in Kai's body to promote uptake of glucose into Kai's cells and convert it into glycogen.
