Mars has a unique environment from that of other planets. Firstly, it's rocky, dusty terrain makes it impossible for plants to grow. Also, on Mars there are volcanos, just like on Earth! Another unique aspect of Mars' terrain is that the group is mostly made of basalt, an igneous rock that on Earth is found on the ocean floor. It also is covered in a thin layer of iron.
