1. How many arrangements can be made for an identification code consisting of any two letters except I and O, followed by a single digit?

2. Maxine, Hakim, and Leonard are all sitting in the back seat of a car.
a. How many ways can they be seated in the back seat?
b. Make a list of the possible arrangements.

Answer :

so any 2 leters except I and O
assuming you are allowed to repeat letters
and assuming you only include lowercase letters
26 leters in alphabet
I and O=2 letters
26-2=24
2 letters combos =24 times 24
then 10 number so
24 times 24 times 10=5760

2.
this is permutations, or slot meathod so

1st seat, 3 possiblities
2nd seat 2 possiblities since 1 already in 1st seat
3rd seat 1 possiblities since 2 already in 1st and 2nd seat so

the answer is 3 times 2 times 1=6 possiblities so
a. 6

b. list,
Maxine=M
Hakim=H
Leonard=L
