1. Australia trades with other countries to import products Australians need but can't obtain in Australia. 
Further more another reason for Australia trading with other countries is to improve the relationship they have with that country e.g. If Japan have a new technology and Zimbabwe have the same technology, Australia would trade with Japan to improve the ralationship bonds.
