Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata recruited their armies primarily from the peasantry and rural areas of Mexico. They drew support from disaffected peasants, indigenous populations, and others who were marginalized or oppressed by the government and wealthy landowners. Their armies were largely composed of farmers, ranchers, and laborers who were seeking land reform, better working conditions, and political change.
