The narrator of Heart of Darkness, Marlowe, tells his story in a slow and ponderous fashion, and the story focuses more on his thoughts and reflections than on what actually happens in Africa. Explain what you feel Conrad hoped to gain by telling this story through the character of Marlow (besides making it much longer and harder to read).
