Create a first scene of Act IV of A Raisin in the Sun that takes place nine months AFTER
the end of Act III Scene 3.
Process:
Plot: Decide what will happen next. Start out this scene with a vivid description of
the new place. What will be the mood of the new scene? Be aware of the plot up to
this point. Choices should be appropriate to what information we already know.
Characters: Decide who will be there. Will new characters be introduced? What
happens to each of the major characters: Mama, Walter, Ruth, Beneatha, Travis,
and the new baby? Write appropriate dialogue for the characters. You should show
your understanding of who these characters are and what they would say and do.
• Setting: Decide where the action will take place. It should be appropriate.

2-3 page script for an individual (one additional page for each additional member)
