Max is a 70-year-old male who lived at home with his wife. Max has a Greek background and is follower of Greek culture. He is from a non-English speaking background. Max's wife (Gina) recently passed away due to bowel cancer. Gina and Max were married for 30 years and closely attached to each other. Max and Gina were a very active and socially interactive couple in the Greek community. Max had a stroke about 5 years ago which left him with residual left sided weakness, but Max can still attend to his own ADLs and able to do household work at home. Since Gina died Max has been refusing to meet his friends and not participating in any social activities. Max has also refused to take any medication. Max stays in bed all day and does not maintain his personal hygiene as reported by his children. Max is also refusing to eat and does not sleep well at night. Max's children are worried and moved him to Rosedale aged care facility last month. Max was admitted to Rosedale facility about 4 weeks ago. He is still not interactive with the staff and other co-residents. Max does not want to come out of his room. He refuses to have his personal care attended by the care staff. Max has been reviewed by the social activity staff to involve him in the social activities of the facility, but Max refused to attend any activities in the facility.
