Do our names really influence our choices?

The Ancient Romans had a phrase that stated "nomen est omen," or "your name is your destiny." They suggested that our names affect the choices we make and the people we become. This idea has been supported by certain studies, which found that there is a surprisingly high number of dentists named Dennis and lawyers called Lauren. This may be due to a phenomenon called "implicit egotism," which means that people feel drawn to things that remind them of their own names or initials.

Some researchers have suggested that this can influence where we choose to live, who we marry, and where we invest our money. While this may sound ridiculous, other research has shown that these similarities between people's names and their life choices are probably just coincidences.
