This works because muliplying by 10mm/1cm is equivalent to muliplying by 1, but the units cancel out leaving the answer in mm.

Keep in mind that when the units are squared you also need to square the conversion factor.

[tex]\frac{952.5cm^{2} }{1} * \frac{1km^{2} }{10^{10}cm^{2} } = 9.525 * 10^{-8} km^2[/tex]
