Task:
Visit three people in some type of health-care facility.

Instructions:
Doctors and nurses are not the only people who can help the sick. You can help people who are sick or infirm by visiting them. Visiting the sick shows that you care.

1. Make a list of three people whom you know are sick. Categorize them according to their place of recovery/rest.
- Example Categories:
- People recovering in a hospital
- People in a nursing home
- People recovering at home or receiving hospice care

2. Prioritize your visits:
- Nursing home patients tend to need the most encouragement, so make them a priority.
- People staying in a hospital but who have received few visitors should also take top priority.

3. Before visiting:
- Call the person or a family member to ensure it is okay for you to visit.
- Ask if there are any particular needs you can help with.
- If not, try to bring a small gift that the sick person will enjoy (e.g., a basket of flowers, a book, or a favorite meal).

4. During the visit:
- The most important gift you can bring is a caring disposition.
- Be sensitive to the needs of the sick person.
- Listen to the person if he or she wants to talk.
- Talk or read to the person if he or she needs to be comforted.
- Or, just sit and hold the person's hand if that will help him or her feel better.
