The Marshall Plan (or European Recovery Program) was an American program that was designed to rehabilitate the economies of several countries in Western Europe after World War II. The initiative was passed in 1948. Some of the goals of this plan were to rebuild war-torn regions, remove trade barriers, modernize the remaining industries and prevent the spread of communism.
