Being divergent would make you more powerful than just having one characteristic. Divergent people were so rare and special that they would be killed if found about. The factions kept order and people in their place who were the same and if you were divergent you wouldn't have much of a future because it could mess up the government system.

People who are characterized as divergent have the ability to manipulate simulations that are used to control different factions. If someone can manipulate simulations, then they can disrupt the order of faction segregation. This is dangerous, because it can cause people to see how harmful being characterized into one faction can be.
