Part A- What is the surface area of the prism if its edge length is 5 cm? Show work

Part B- Arusha plans to build the prism and partially fill it with 150 cubic centimeters of sand. What fraction of the prism's volume will be filled by the sand? Show Work.



Answer :

The SA would be 10e² because there are 10 squares.
The V would be 2e³ because there are 2 cubes.

Part A
If e = 5 cm, simply plug it into the SA formula we have already.
SA = 10e² = 10*5² = 10*25 = 250 cm².

Part B
If e = 5cm, simply plug it into the V formula we have already.
V = 2e³ = 2*5³ = 2*125 = 250 cm³.

Now we need to find what percent of 250 is 150?

250p = 150
p = 150/250 = 3/5 = 0.6 = 60%
