AP US History question:

Answer :

In terms of the South, the Civil War completely destroyed the entire southern economy by eliminating slavery. Reconstruction was needed to reintegrate the South. In the North, it validated the idea that slavery was an evil, and ultimately unnecessary to the economic success of the country as a whole.
