George Orwell in his “Animal Farm” effort to demonstrate and develop some overarching themes does this through utilizing characterization. Consequently, using his characters traits and actions, Orwell tears to pieces the true essence of power, the rampant class hierarchy, the loyalty of labor class, and the abuse of language. I will demonstrate in this essay how the characters revealed their emotions and feelings using the following illustrations presented in the novel.

The movie alluded to the power’s corruptibility through the character of Napoleon who rose in to the position of the farm’s’ cruel dictator. By the end of the story, Napoleon satisfies his desire for power and is turned from the kind leader into the tyrant that uses one another to oppress. His dramatic shift perfectly matches what Lord Acton was saying when he defined power as something that, left unchecked, "tend(s) to corrupt and absolute power (is unquestionably) corrupt(ing)."

The social classes system is another theme which he is interested in through the way how the animal' livestock is positioned. The pigs, who gradually come to stand for the ruling class, start behaving as if they had the same privileges as the two-legs and end up ruling the other animals in the farm. In this aspect, we can see how the plot of the novel demonstrates inequality among individuals, a phenomenon prevalent in human societies since the upper class dictates rules for the underclass.

Moreover, the working-class loyalty is exerted by Boxer, the hard- working horse which is a personification of steadfast and unbending devotion to the farm's cause. However, as time passed, his betrayal made Boxer become stronger with the proletariat willing to put everything on the line never knowing if they will be chewed up.

Language and its manipulation is another thing that Orwell encompasses by means of Squealer, who is the propaganda distributor at the farm. The fact that Squealer is twisting the words and facts to suit the same purpose of the pigs, reinforces the notion that language has the power to be used as a tool that over a chains while at the same time, it is a tool that can easily mislead.

“Animal Farm” isn’t only that the farm animals story, but it is the depth discussed about the human nature behind it. Orwell, by means of his characters, demonstrates to us the tremendous risks that are implied by an unchecked power, the inequalities in social life, the working class victimization, and the language impact on society.
