Answer:
Explain why subsistence strategies are interrelated to economic and political organization. Use several examples to illustrate your points. Explain why there is not an egalitarian society that primarily practices industrial agriculture to get their food. Subsistence strategies are interrelated to economic and political organization of a culture for many reasons. An extremely large group of people would not be able to provide adequate resources for their people because the land they would most likely be living on could not replenish enough to sustain them. Likewise, a small group of people would not cultivate large fields of crops that require major dedication and hours to keep their crops healthy and growing. Small groups tend to be more mobile so they need resources that can either easily be carried from place to place or easily be made again with similar resources. But, in larger societies those people can create more stable housing and other items such as baskets, boats, and art work.
When a group with a good economic balance is searching for subsistence methods they typically turn to their leaders within their society. This is another way of knowing when groups of people have settled and become self-sufficient is when they have political leaders. There are numerous ways that humans have sustained themselves over the course of history, the most common method that our ancestors used was hunting and gathering. Before bands of people would join together to create more complex societies our ancestors would roam around searching for food and shelter in a way that many generations after would follow. As groups became larger people began forming agriculture to feed more people in more sedentary lifestyles. This meant that people could build more permanent shelters such as longhouses or hogans and also dugout canoes and plank canoes. The reason there are no egalitarian societies that practice industrial agriculture to get their food is because
who are arranged in egalitarian societies are typically small groups of people with equal rights and entitlements. The small groups of people are typically mobile and move from one piece of land to another quite often. Since crops take many months to grow and flourish this type of subsistence method would not be suitable for people of an egalitarian organization. These people do not own any land and therefore cannot grow crops on the land they are “borrowing” for the time being. The ability to have the human resources and human labor to create and industrial agricultural society would have been the complete opposite of what an egalitarian society is interelated to economic and political organization.
