how do you solve 3x-2 divided by 8=x/4-1 ?

the answer is x= -6

but how do you solve it?

[tex] \frac{3x-2}{8}= \frac{x}{3} [/tex]

Cross, Multiply :

[tex]3(3x-2) = 8x[/tex]

[tex]9x-6 = 8x[/tex]

[tex]9x - 8x - 6 = 0[/tex]

[tex]9x - 8x = 6[/tex]

[tex]\boxed{x = 6}[/tex]



Note :
Remember this cross multiply formula :
[tex] \frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d} \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\, \to \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,(a \times d) = (b \times c)[/tex]
