Briefly explain why a person discharges urine more frequently when environmental temperature are lower than when they are high

Answer :

Answer and Explanation: There are a couple of reasons why individuals discharge urine more frequently in colder weather.

One reason is because of vasoconstriction. Vasoconstriction refers to blood vessels in the body narrowing in response to cold temperatures in order to decrease the surface area that heat can be lost through. However, this also increases blood pressure due to the same amount of blood flowing through a much tighter space. In order to decrease blood pressure, the kidneys attempt to remove excess fluid from the blood, which results in more fluid being discharged from the body through urination. This phenomenon is known as cold diuresis.

In addition, a full bladder is increased surface area for possible heat loss. Thus, it is in the body's best interest to discharge urine as frequently as possible in order decrease the amount of surface area heat can be lost through.
